Synopsis for "Wanted: Hyperman—Dead or Alive"
On Throneworld Kranaltine, home of the Superwatch, Lanterns Ryk and Tru alert Hal Kar and Maxima to the disappearance of a device known as the Eterniglass from their Trophy Hall. The heroes confront the culprit on Asteroid Juno, the Atlantean Power-Lord. They dispatch the traitor and question him the location of Hyperman, whom Power-Lord had given the item to.
On Earth, Craig Quentin enjoys coffee with reporter Allie Astra near the Golden Giant exhibition. Quentin reveals his identity as Hyperman and his true motive to kill her in order to satisfy his sadistic urges as a result of emerald wavelength poisoning. Quentin's wife, Hyperwoman, stops him; informing him that she has activated a timepoint using the eterniglass so that he can kill the Green Lantern after them.
Hyperwoman puts Hal in a headlock, using her hyper-vision to effectively cripple his Lantern Ring. Jordan knocks her back with a train construct while his ring begins to slowly die. Hal fends off the supers, encouraging his ring to push on despite the damage. Hyperwoman removes herself from the fight, scolding her husband for not being able to control his impulses so close to their son's wedding (as they had to kill another Lantern beforehand). She reveals that something is happening on Throneworld and that she is the only one who can stop it, leaving their pet hyper-dog Klypso to help Quentin clean up the mess.
Jordan communes with the Young Guardians and they command him not to engage without his ring at full power, as backup is on the way. Jordan ignores the Guardians, as his ring discovers the Achilles Heel of the Hyper-people; they require orange sun radiation as a power source, and their suits manipulate the yellow solar energy to their benefit. Hal wrecks Hyperman's suit, but is mauled by Klypso.
Just then, Hal's Orinthoid allies arrive to save him; killing the hyper-hound. Hyper-man defeats the Ornithoids and blasts Jordan with his hyper-vision, returning to his perverted rendezvous with Allie Astra. He deactivates the timepoint and attempts to crush her head, discovering that his powers are gone due to lack of solar manipulation by his suit.
Jordan breaks Quentin's nose and jaw, arresting the killer once and for all. The Lanterns and Superwatch arrive as Flash calms Hal down. As his ring dies, Hal collapses, with the Young Guardians hailing this as the beginning of the Ultrawar.
