The Invisibles #3 is an issue of the series The Invisibles (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 1994.
Synopsis for "Down and Out in Heaven and Hell, Part Two"
After having a psychedelic vision and awakening in a pile of garbage,[1] Dane McGowan is now being hunted by persons who appear to be lackeys of Miles Delacourt—a crew who murdered another street teen in broad daylight yesterday. One of the men easily punches the boy to the ground, bloodying his nose and telling him that they are only there to remind him that he is alive because they allow it before disappearing into the shadows. Mad Tom appears and thanks him for saving his life but Dane explains that he wasn't trying to protect Tom and walks away angry.
Tom follows and the two walk in the park, where Dane kicks at some pigeons. Tom is offended and asks if Dane would like to fly like a pigeon to see what it's like. He sarcastically agrees and then Tom places his hands over Dane's eyes, allowing him to see the world from the vantage point of a reviled creature. He tells the boy that cities are a virus that entered humanity long ago and it is making our species sick.
Dane tells Tom about his time in Harmony House[2] and Tom responds that there are dark forces that control the world and that by tapping into the magic inherent in cities, he can push back against them. He says that The Invisibles want him as their new recruit and he probes the boy to tell him who Jack Frost is. The alter ego appears to him as a vision of a demon and has haunted him since childhood.
Tom suddenly turns violent, hitting Dane and attempting to drown him in the river. He pulls him out at the last moment and lectures him on how he is refusing to live up to his potential. He commands him to wake up and see for himself. Dane feels reinvigorated and asks what's next. Tom tells him they are going to jump off the top of a skyscraper.
