Synopsis for "The Marvel Family Curse"
Freddy while searching through records finds the diary of Joseph Batson where he recounts how he captured the Salem Witch. He found her turning his best heifer another color. He fought her, and finally succeeded in binding and gagging her tight. He took his cow out, then returned with two men, but found the barn on fire. The Witch tried to free herself, but knocked over the oil lamp and caused a fire. She says by seven the Seventh Generation will perish in flames. Her name was Margaret Crabbetson. They buried her scorched bones under her true Christian name. Freddy thinks of how this is 1947 and Billy and Mary are the seventh generation of the Batsons. Later there is a fire in a building. Captain and Mary Marvel save people. They investigate and discover Crabbetson, the owner of the building, is involved, burning buildings down for insurance, when they see him talking to one of the arsonists. However they are knocked out and he decides to start another fire and eliminate them, saying one of his ancestors died in such a manner. Freddy sees another fire and decides to search the basement to see if anybody is there as Captain Marvel Jr. He finds Billy and Mary Batson bound and gagged in there. He releases them and they summon the Marvels. Crabbetson threatens them with a thermite flask, but he falls down steps and it explodes when he falls on it, killing him in flames. Cap comments he is Crabbetson, and Jr. thinks of how he must be the descendant of the Salem Witch, who nearly made the old curse come true.
