The Marvel Family #82 is an issue of the series The Marvel Family (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 1953.
Synopsis for The Marvel Family: "The World's Mightiest Family Battles the Beast Battalions!"
On the front lines of the Korean War, UN forces run into a dog and two soldiers, Hank Hardy and Joe, pet him, only to be attacked by a giant rat! The dog helps chase off the Giant Rat and Hank names him Yank. Hank follows Yank to find that he’s out of ammo and can’t fire immediately at Tong, a North Korean military genius who is training these giant rats to attack UN forces. Hank returns to his camp and tries to warn everyone, but everyone thinks he’s crazy and he’s committed. Luckily, Billy Batson, Mary Batson and Freddy Freeman are walking by this UN military police jail cell as part of a Cheer Up Troupe and recognize that Tong is alive, having survived being crushed by his creation, the Great Red Brain! They’re soon attacked by giant rats coming up out of the floor and call SHAZAM and CAPTAIN MARVEL to become the Marvel Family while Tong shows off his Beast Battalions to a fellow North Korean general. The Marvel Family soon cover themselves with gasoline and light themselves on fire so they can just burn every giant rat they catch and get Hank released while meeting with their contact, Col. Stout. Hank takes Yank with him to find he leaves them from where Joe was killed by a giant rat and they’re led to a guarded cave and find Tong inside as he releases Giant Pythons to attack the incoming UN forces. Hank is captured in the fracas and Tong kicks Yank while the Giant Pythons destroy whole tanks by coiling around them. The Marvel Family soon wire themselves with a giant coil of wire attached to a dynamo and just electrocute the Giant Pythons by hand before they invade Tong’s cave again and the North Koreans retreat to Position Z-5. They punch out their radio man and return the kids to sneak inside.
The kids rub dirt on their faces to pretend they’re poor Korean refugee children and follow Yank to a compound where Tong is staying. They’re suddenly knocked out by a North Korean soldier and wake up, as usual, bound and gagged, suspended from the ceiling in a Korean prison by both arms, an ancient torture while Tong shows off his Giant Lizards, which also eat people, offering to feed Hank to one. Suddenly, Yank runs in to bite the Giant Lizard’s tail and Freddy flings his bad leg with out force to kick off Billy’s gag, letting him call SHAZAM. Captain Marvel soon punches out the Giant Lizard and Hank and Yank are carried back to UN forces while Hank is worried due to Yank being bit by the Lizard as well. Tong starts to drop more Giant Lizards from parachutes, but the Marvel Family whip barbed wire into wide circles, cutting the Beast Battalions out of their parachutes and letting them drop to the Korean Peninsula below, then sew the parachutes together at top speed to drag Tong’s plane out of the sky. Later, Billy notes that Tong was captured and they go to console Hank, but find that Yank isn’t dead after all. Later, they all salute Yank for really being man’s best friend...

Synopsis for The Marvel Family: "The Fantastic Freezing Furies!"
In the gold frozen north of the Yukon, a man has struck gold, starting a new amazing Yukon Gold Rush and a mining town named Jackpot over it. However, there’s 20’ of snowfall burying Jackpot underneath, meaning that the gold will be lost and the people there will likely starve. Hearing news of this, Billy Batson informs Mary Batson and Freddy Freeman and call SHAZAM and CAPTAIN MARVEL to become the Marvel Family and fly off to the Arctic Yukon. Together, they dig up large wooden poles and use them as snow shovels and free the town, but when they try to head to their claims, they find claim jumpers trying to snatch the gold and start attacking them with icicle spears! Captain Marvel is stunned to find these men are wearing only loincloths in the Yukon and are are sweating due to it being too hot out! Their leader announces that he is the Ice King and they are a lost people who were separated from the rest of humanity during the Ice Age, when they adapted to living near the North Pole. Captain Marvel asks why they’re stealing gold, but the Ice King says that he’s going to build a Giant Freeze Ray to bury Jackpot once again (with a smaller Freeze Ray) and orders his wolves to MUSH as he freezes a wall of ice between him and the Marvel Family. When they break through it though, the Ice King and his goons are gone with no hint of where they went and they are distracted saving two First Nations children from a polar bear, Kyak and Olia. They report that the Ice King kidnapped their father and they find wolf hair, creating a trail they can follow to find their city. The Marvel Family soon finds the Ice King’s City of Ice amid the mountains and is cut out of the permafrost, run by whipped slaves until the Marvel Family slide into their taskmasters and the Ice King scarpers into his Ice Palace and pulls a lever, activating Ice Bombs under nearby glaciers that send them into a deadly March as fast as express trains as the glaciers begin to fall towards Jackpot!
