Synopsis for "An Unfortunate Traveller"

Down in The Movement's Sweatshop, the team carries Batgirl into their War Room, hoping to use her for some leverage. To that end, Virtue gets out her phone and begins taking pictures as Mouse prepares to unmask her. Though Tremor has reservations about it, Virtue promises that no one will see the pictures, so long as Batgirl cooperates. From her position on the floor, though, Batgirl begins to regain consciousness, and seeing Virtue and her camera, she instantly flashes back to the moment, years ago, when the Joker had done the same after he shot her through the spine. Virtue begins to sense her rage, but too late to avoid taking a punch in the jaw. In her anger, Batgirl takes the entire team down before regaining her composure, and taking stock of where she really is.

Meanwhile, Katharsis searches Coral City for Horizon, a super-powered vigilante on the run from Batgirl for taking the role too far. When she finds him, he warns her away, and naturally, she tackles him, warning that she has to take him back to the Movement's hideout, because he's causing a ruckus. In the meantime, though, she asks to hear his story.

Elsewhere, in the office of James Cannon, he is annoyed to hear that the Graveyard Faction intends to quit working for him on the grounds that he lied about their true nature. As they leaves, he calls after them that they are cowards, prompting his son Terry to offer to kill the Movement himself. James refuses the offer, thinking instead on a different way around the problem of Channel M.

After a one-on-one meeting with Virtue, Batgirl realizes that despite trying to unmask her, the Movement does a lot of good for the people of Coral City, and she may have jumped the gun. In any case, though, Horizon is a killer. Virtue responds that everyone in her organization has been called a killer at some point, and she has sent someone she trusts to check on it. That trust is perhaps not well placed, given that Katharsis is making out with Horizon as they speak.

Meanwhile, Tremor decides it's time to confront Mouse about his feelings for her. She explains that a relationship between them couldn't work, but he doesn't understand. Outright, she states that the reason why they can't have a relationship is because she is asexual. Still, Mouse is confused.

Before long, Katharsis and Horizon have had sex on a rooftop, and he is grateful - though confused as to why she would choose him. She can't really explain it, but it makes no difference, as he is too worried about what is going to happen to him now that the moment has ended. Katharsis assures him that he only killed in self-defence, and regardless of what the authorities are saying, she will protect him. She flies him down to the bridge that separates the nicer part of Coral City from The'Tweens, explaining that if he had been born on the right side of the tracks, the police would agree that he was on the right side of the law - but because he was from his own version of the 'Tweens, things are different.

On the bridge, they find Batgirl and the rest of the team waiting, and Katharis is annoyed to learn that Virtue called the police. Batgirl explains that she has leverage in this situation, so long as Horizon goes peacefully. Virtue reveals that Horizon had killed two cops less than an hour before. This upsets Katharsis, having been a former cop herself, and having believed he had only killed in self-defense before. Now, things have changed. Confusedly, Horizon admits that he doesn't know what happened, but in any case, he would rather die than go to a place like Arkham Asylum. Admitting that she understands, Katharsis retrieves her sword, and prepares to execute him, at his demand.

Unwilling to let her do it, Batgirl tackles Katharsis, sparing Horizon's life, even as she is warned that the cops will kill Horizon if they get their hands on him. Virtue responds that there is no good side to be on in this fight. If they let Horizon go, he will kill again, whether it is his fault or not. Something needs to be done.

As the police approach, Virtue warns Batgirl that she should leave soon. Before going, Batgirl asks Virtue to tell Katharsis from her that she will check in on Horizon in prison, adding that someone like Virtue could be of value in Gotham, to look out for the little guy. While she is grateful for the offer, Virtue knows that sometimes, there is no choice.
