The Phantom Stranger (Volume 2) #5 is an issue of the series The Phantom Stranger (Volume 2) with a cover date of February, 1970.

Synopsis for "The Devil's Playground!"

Wild Rose, Spartacus, Mr. Square, and Attila are out on the beach when suddenly a man rushes out of the water, but drops dead, however when they go to get help, on their way back the dead man is gone. When Earl Winthrop III is seemingly alive while he was believed to have died at sea, it draws the attention of Phantom Stranger, Terrence Thirteen and his wife, as well as Tala.

When Tala constantly attacks Winthrop's parties, Phantom Stranger is there to stop her, even though he has Dr. 13 on his tail trying to debunk everything along the way. Winthrop reveals to his girl Vera that he really died when his plane crashed out to sea and returns to the dark abyss to return to his fate.

When Tala tries to take Vera as well, the Phantom Stranger battles her off and she vanishes at sea, and the Stranger once more vanishes when Thirteen begins to question the authenticity of his supernatural powers.
