Synopsis for "The Seven Deadly Enemies of Man"

Mary Marvel reveals an ancient golden sarcophagus holding aloft a wand with the Sacred Ibis on it, knowing it's connected with Shazam's resurrection spell, only to find Black Adam behind them, having torn Mr. Tawky Tawny in half! He says that Mr. Tawny wasn't supposed to help them as much as he had, but did anyways due to being inherently good. Black Adam finds himself drawn inexorably to the wand, but when he goes to touch it, it blasts him back with a burst of lightning and knocks him out. Mary Marvel speaks the magic words “Sibis Eirsa Ghitym Rulmseb Royu Morf…” Her and “Uncle” Dudley worry about what it will do while Sinclair, having slept with the Mayor, is confident he'll get the Chippewa Casino approved now. She is pleased but mildly embarrassed, but Sinclair is only thinking of, naturally, himself, how he intends to use video evidence of their liaison to blackmail her. “Muscles” McGinnis thinks on how he intends to shoot Sinclair Batson… but with tranquilizers to knock him out and keep Lady Blaze from actually having the shifty businessman assassinated. Freddy Freeman begins to regain feeling in his toes and Captain Marvel feels a strange sense in his broken arm. Flying off to find the other members of the Marvel Family, Captain Marvel is distracted by seeing two people with shadowy demonic faces fighting in an alleyway, only for an infernal black liquid to leap off a wall on to his face as they beckon that he “Be one with the Seven.” The energy pulses stop as, emerging from the split sarcophagus is Prince Amentep, known instead as Ibis, after the sacred bird of the Nile. Mary Marvel explains that Shazam is being held prisoner in Hell and Ibis recognizes this must be a powerful predicament indeed to resurrect him. Black Adam recovers and Mary Marvel goes to fight him off, but Ibis grows quickly bored of Black Adam bringing up how Sarah died to protect her and wishes him back to Hell where he belongs.

Ibis tells her his story: when he was a baby 4,000 years ago, he was saved by an ibis that killed a cobra trying to attack him and was then chosen by Thoth, God of Wisdom, to wield the Ibis-Stick, a powerful wand that fulfills his every wish. However, this led to him and his Queen, Taia, becoming quickly bored with life and he wished on the Ibis-Stick to remain in a deathlike sleep until such a time as the world became more “exciting.” 4,000 years later, Shazam (in the form of an old man) visited his sarcophagus at a museum in Fawcett City and spoke many spells over him to find one to bring him back, though the museum's guards and docents don't seem to pay him any attention. When one of them worked, Ibis awoke in 1940 and wished himself free of his display case to see a new modern world…

Mary Marvel says they need to cut short his origin due to a riot occurring on the streets of Fawcett City and Ibis picks up the torn Mr. Tawny, saying the Ibis-Stick senses no evil in it and they can bring it along. Mary Marvel and Ibis soon find that Captain Marvel is being controlled by one of the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man on his face. Mary Marvel manages to pull it off when Ibis' spell won't directly return it to the Rock of Eternity, so he instead wishes it into a physical form so they can fight it. Captain Marvel says it won't be easy fighting all of the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man, so Ibis helps out by wishing “Uncle” Dudley into a member of the Marvel Family, fixing Mr. Tawny (restoring him to his full tiger-man form) and Mary Marvel suggests he summon Freddy Freeman, forgetting not to just order him there, since he's recovering in a hospital. Freddy arrives there and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to help out as Captain Marvel, Jr. and also summons Bulletman the Flying Detective, in full costume, to stop the Seven Deadly Enemies! Bulletman is happy to see his old friend from the ‘40s and they quickly manage to each drag one of the Seven Deadly Enemies back to Shazam's Lair. Bulletman notes it's been a while since he heard from Shazam himself and they all soon arrive at the Rock of Eternity, but aren't as sure about how to seal the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man away again. Ibis soon appears and wishes them back into their statues while Mr. Tawny wanders off. Bulletman notes they once helped Shazam fight them and Ibis grows bored again as they ask him for help. Mary Marvel asks what Mr. Tawny's deal is, but he says he's just a harmless pookah and Ibis reveals that Lord Satanus likely sent him to help them, since he also hates his twin sister, Lady Blaze. Mr. Tawny is happy to learn he can remain in a physical form permanently if he so desires, but Uncle Marvel asks to turn back to normal soon. Suddenly, the whole Rock shifts and rumbles as Lady Blaze begins to attack it, intent of releasing the Three Faces of Evil! Meanwhile, in Hell, Black Adam finds that he's apparently in a more tortured part of Hell and finds the soul of Sarah Primm, sealed into a pillar of stone, cursed to forever watch the torments of the others, but she says she deserves as much for letting him drag her down with him. Black Adam is overcome that his good sister be treated this way, but she says that he's responsible for her being here. Black Adam is furious to be betrayed by Lady Blaze yet again…
