The Question #8 is an issue of the series The Question (Volume 1) with a cover date of September, 1987.
Synopsis for "Mikado"
In Hub City, a masked man is killing people. With the cops shorthanded or corrupt, The Question decides to investigate. After some preliminary fact finding, he discovers two possibilities for likely suspects. He don's his mask and goes to check on the first as the Question.
He visits a drug dealer, who he learns has been laid up in the hospital for the last month. This eliminates him as a suspect.
The Question then pays a visit to the other suspect, Dr. Spaulding. When he confronts him, Spaulding injects him with an opiate that keeps him from taking any action for a limited time. When Spaulding is about to inject the Question with a lethal drug, the Question manages to halt his actions through discussion. Realizing that not all people are purely guilty or innocent, Spaulding decides not to kill the Question and instead injects himself with the drug. He falls to the floor.
Hours later, the opiate wears off and the Question goes to the adjoining bathroom to wash up. Spaulding is still passed out on the floor, however, when the Question returns to the main room, Spaulding is gone.
