Synopsis for "The Ray, Part Four"
Chanti shoots Thaddeus point blank in the chest. Lamenting that he is supposed to save the day, Lucien forces himself to fight despite his injuries, wanting to make sure Chanti's life is not a tragedy. Eventually he defeats Thaddeus's mechanical creatures. As Thaddeus dies he declares that he only wanted to continue his father's filmmaking legacy. Lucien tries to convince him to change reality so that none of the bad things he's done will have happened, and to make films to help others instead. Though Thaddeus is reluctant, Lucien manages to hypnotise him using swirling coloured lights, and convinces him to make these changes, as well as one other change. Back at the night Lucien met Chanti's parents for dinner, he this time appears only as himself, and is respectful throughout the meal. After the meal, he and Chanti go to a movie premiere. The movie is by Thaddeus, who is now a client of Chanti's, and is on the theme of hope. At the end of the film, which garners great applause, Lucien receives a message on his phone and has to leave. He encounters a hostage situation in an office building and saves the day before the terrorists can blow the building up. Following this, a man from the Department of Homeland Security appears and offers Lucien a job. It is implied that he accepts, before he flies off into the night.
