Synopsis for Johnny Peril: "The Whip of Fear!"

Johnny Peril gets recruited to guard the minister of Baruga. The minister is in town to sign an important oil agreement but they have received information that assassins are in the area to kill the minister and stop the agreement. Johnny escorts the disguised minister to safety but is immediately attacked. He puts up a good fight and is overwhelmed. When he regains consciousness he finds that the minister has been assassinated and he is the main suspect. Agents are about to arrest him when Johnny gets away by diving into the water next to the dock. He seeks refuge with an acquaintance that winds up turning him in. In the meantime a villain named the planner instructs his lackeys to kill Johnny on sight. Johnny flees from his intended abductors and jumps into a mysterious car whose occupant offers him a ride. It turns out that the driver is a henchman for the planner who intends to get rid of Johnny but he overpowers the driver and forces him to take him to the Planners hideout. The planner learns of Johnnys presence in his lair and flees. Johnny has a final struggle with a henchman but quickly disposes of him. Johnny then finds himself constantly on the run from authorities who believe that he assassinated the minister.

Synopsis for "Collector's Item"

This story is reprinted from Strange Adventures #28.

Insect collector Adrian Hammer boasts that he has collected every species of insect in the world. One day he learns of the presence of giant spiders on an unnamed island in the South Pacific. He gets directions to the island and travels there in search of the giant spiders. After three weeks of searching, Hammer runs into a bundle of giant spider webs. He becomes entangled in them and is unable to escape. The giant spiders emerge and Hammer thinks that he is about to be eaten. He the realizes that the spiders are specimen collectors from Pluto who are out to collect life forms from Mars, Neptune, Earth and Venus. The spiders revel in glee as they remark that Hammer has completed their collection.

Synopsis for "A Trader in Treachery"

Eduord La Belette is a French traitor in 1939 France. He is caught selling military secrets to the Germans. He is pursued relentlessly by captain Claude Rambeau from French army intelligence. Belette flees to Britain where he has surgery to disguise himself. In the meantime Rambeau goes to great lengths to learn everything he can about Belette. He learns detailed information about his habits and facial features. He collects photographs of Belette and speaks to his former acquaintances. He learns that Belette might be hanging out at a resort in Brighton. He is pursued by French intelligence officers who immediately recognize his physical features. Belette quickly realizes that his pursuers are closing in. He runs off into a building with an unlocked door. It turns out to be a door leading to a shooting gallery where Belette is quickly shot by patrons. Rambeau arrives on the scene and inquires if any of the shooters were French. A man acknowledges that several of them are Frenchman on leave from the military. Rambeau stands silently satisfied that justice has been delivered from the French people
