Synopsis for Johnny Peril: "The Brain Robbers!"

A lone madman by the name of Eric Furman destroys an undersea tracking station as he tests his underwater diving suit. The masters of the cosmos summon Johnny Peril. They relate the story of mad scientist Eric Furman. He creates a machine by the name of Cerbrex who has the ability to absorb the mental capacities of evil humans. The computer gains control of Furman and instructs him to go out and acquire the mental capacities of other evil geniuses. Furman sets about to capture the mental capacities of criminal after criminal at the exact moment of their deaths using ray gun known as a transmuter. Cerbrex announces that the combined forces of wickedness will bring the world to its knees. The masters of the cosmos admit that Furman must be stopped or else evil will rule the world of man. They inform Johnny Peril that Furman intends to seek out an evil genius named Adam Rahl to capture his creative abilities. Johnny Peril is sent to protect Rahl who is less than cooperative. Rahl realizes what Furman is trying to accomplish and he attempts to acquire Cerbrex for himself. Rahl renders Johnny Peril unconscious using supersonic waves. Furman and Rahl then fight each other to the death but they are both swept away by an underwater current and they both perish. The masters of the cosmos reveal that Cerbrex is no more due to the fact that Furman's mental emanations kept it going. Now that Furman had perished, the computer was no more.

Synopsis for Tales of the Mad Mod Witch: "Burn, Match, Burn!"

The Mod witch throws out a book of matches out of her window. The matches are then picked up by vagrant who is scavenging the back alley. He picks up the matchbook and heads to his shelter where he surprisingly keeps a stash of money that he has been counting. He lights up a match to smoke and the flame burns green. He is then overcome by a feeling of generosity and he sets out to spread his wealth around helping as many people as possible. He then drops the matchbook in front of an apartment where it is picked up by a plain middle aged woman. She lights a match to heat her food in the oven and the flame burns with the color purple. She is then transformed into a beautiful attractive young woman. She decides to leave her dwelling confident that she will attract a romantic interest who will marry her. She then gives the matchbook to a man that asks for a light. The man lights his cigarette and the flame burns blue. He then gets the urge to buy a junkyard he has passed believing that it will be a valuable piece of property. Sure enough he is approached by a developer and sells the junkyard for a nice profit. The matchbook is then found by a security guard that works at a prison. The guard escorts a convicted killer to the electric chair but the prisoner then asks for a light. The guard pulls out the matchbook he found and lights a match that burns black. The prisoner then receives a call from the governor who commutes his sentence to life in prison. The guard disposes of the matchbook once more and it is picked up by a man who is waiting for a cab. He is delivering a sum of money to the bank and boards an airplane. The airplane crashes and everyone onboard is killed. The wreckage is found by a man who rummages through the debris and finds the money that the bank courier was delivering. He takes the money and rushes into the woods to avoid authorities. He is attacked by a pack of wolves but he uses the matchbook to light a fire and scare the wolves away. The match burns brown but it’s very effective. The burning fire attracts the attention of local law enforcement. They arrest the man for theft and haul him away to jail. The man throws the matchbook on a station desk where a police officer throws it in the trash. The trash is hauled away and the matchbook falls in front of the Mod witch with a single match left. She invites readers to come see if they have the courage to strike the last match.

Synopsis for "The Corpse that Didn't Die!"

Rich Tycoon Cyrus Marshall begins to ponder the possibilities of how he will be remembered after he dies. He has a long cruel history of driving people to the limit sometimes resulting in death all for his own personal gain. One night Marshall is struck in the head by a mugger who takes his wallet. He drives away in his getaway car but the mugger inadvertently drives off a cliff killing himself instantly. The police find the body and Marshalls wallet and they presume it was Marshall himself that had been killed. Marshall witnesses the scene and thinks that he should step forward to clear up the misunderstanding. He then realizes that this is his chance to see how people will react to his death at his funeral. Marshall arrives at the cemetery and is shocked to see the number of people attending. He moves in closer and quickly realizes that the crowd is spewing its hatred for Marshal, they are rejoicing at the death of such a cruel human being. He lives out his remaining days in lonely seclusion.
