The evil deeds are transferred to Amrams body. His hand is distorted from the broken window, his shoulder is in pain from the heavy sack that Barnes carried away and his neck is deformed from the necklace that was stolen from the woman. All of these distortions were absorbed as a result of the evil deeds that were transferred to his body. Ferghol is unsympathetic. He threatens to withhold a valuable formula that keeps Amram alive unless he does his bidding. In the meantime, Barnes is elated that he has gotten away with all of his crimes without consequence. As he crosses the street he is hit by a truck and lays dying in the street. Right before he passes, he confesses to all of his crimes and it has an immediate effect on Amrams.
