The Victor's Circle is a secret, semi-official fighting organization located on Themyscira where Amazons fight in one-on-one, unarmed bouts.

History

Founded by Antiope in 1041 BCE without the direct blessing of Hippolyta or the Themysciran council, the Victor's Circle is intended to be a place where Amazons, regardless of rank or status, might meet to face each other in unarmed combat as equals; the various modes of victory that are listed suggest the specific type of fighting is a form of pankration, the "no-holds-barred" hybrid sport of boxing and wrestling that originated in ancient Greece. Such bouts can be used to settle disputes or be simply for the thrill of a fight. The fights themselves are held in a small arena carved into a cavern that is hidden behind a waterfall.[1]

Many notable Amazons hold records within the Circle. Antiope herself holds the record for the fastest knockout and shortest fight. Princess Diana has the most victories by submission, Nubia the most knockouts, Mala the most TKOs, and Philippus the most total fights; Philippus was also the grand champion of the Circle for two centuries.[1]
