The Thirteen is an informal name for a group of heroes active in the 1940s who were removed from and then reintegrated back into the timeline.
History
When Barry Allen and Doctor Manhattan altered the timeline, the members of the Thirteen were erased from history. The Time Masters preserved them by placing them in stasis pods in the Time Lab.[1][2] Per Degaton's meddling in the timeline caused the pods to fail and they were reintegrated into history before the timeline was fully restored.[3]
Eight of the Thirteen were the forgotten sidekicks of Golden Age heroes. They were taken by The Childminder alongside twenty other young heroes, almost all of whom also from the Golden Age, before they could be fully restored to their proper place in history and imprisoned on Orphan Island, an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean outside the normal flow of time.[1][4] The sidekicks managed to defeat the Childminder and her employer, an adult version of Corky Baxter, with the help of Stargirl, Red Arrow, and Hourman. As they could not be returned to their proper places in time, Hourman transported them to the present, where they became known as the Young Justice Society.[5]
Notes
- Of the Thirteen, only Aquaman (Earth-Two), Mister Miracle I (Earth-One), and Legionnaire actually existed in a previous timeline/universe. The Harlequin's Son is based on an unrealized concept for a member of Infinity, Inc. (Earth-Two). John Henry Jr. is a reimagining of the Earth-21 version of the character. The others are newly created characters related to former Earth-Two heroes.
