Thomas Wayne was an elementary school teacher and the father of Bruce Wayne.
History
Thomas' father was a bus driver who worked six days a week, but on his days off would take Thomas to Amusement Mile. One day as they were walking there he suddenly dropped dead of a massive coronary. Because of this Thomas decided to become a heart surgeon, but when Martha unexpectedly became pregnant he had to re-evaluate his life, as they could not afford for him to be out of work and in medical school for years while they had a baby. He realised that he had wanted to become a doctor to prevent any other child feeling they way he had felt when he lost his father; and realised he could make children feel safe by preparing them for the world as a teacher.[1]
When Bruce got older he attended the school where Thomas worked, and Thomas taught his son's fifth grade class. While he was chaperoning the class on a trip to Gotham Zoo, a mass shooter attacked the park. Thomas got the children to safety and then tackled the gunman unarmed, saving them at the cost of his own life.[2]
