The Three Black Cats were ex-circus performers who turned to crime and were enemies of Quicksilver.
History
The Vardoni brothers were circus performers who worked under Martin Brun, the manager of the circus who got a bad reputation for not letting any of his aerial acts use safety nets or belts. When Antonio Vardoni fell during a performance the absence of safety netting was fatal. After the accident the quality of the Vardoni brothers' circus act dropped in quality, and they turned their talents to crime.
10 years after Antonio's accident the Vardoni brothers, now the Three Black Cats, robbed and killed Martin Brun as revenge. Quicksilver heard of the attack on the radio and concluded that partners of Brun were also in danger. Sam Abell, a partner of Brun, was killed by the Three Black Cats but they were interrupted at the scene by Quicksilver. He was hit over the head with a stool and after regaining his composure chased the Three Black Cats over the rooftops, eventually losing them.
Quicksilver knew that the next target was Kane and once again found the Three Black Cats, now on the rooftop of the Hotel Belton. The group did battle on top of a narrow hanging hotel sign, with one of the Three Black Cats taking the first swipe at Quicksilver but missing. Quicksilver used the opportunity to hit the Vardoni brother off the sign and to his death. When the other two Vardoni brothers went to strike Quicksilver he dropped down and hung from the hotel sign, causing them to lose their balance and also fall to the ground.
