Pre-Flashpoint
Tim Hunter was a British youth with unprecedented potential in magic. His allegiance to good, evil, or neutrality undecided, the Trenchcoat Brigade - the Phantom Stranger, John Constantine, Doctor Occult, and Mister E - took Tim on a tour of the magical side of the DC Universe.
Despite making friends and nearly falling victim to the evildoers of magic, at some point, Tim embraced evil. Fifteen years after his lessons with the Brigade, Tim led the magical villains of the DC Universe - including M'nagalah, the Cult of the Blood Red Moon, Eclipso, and many more - in a magical Armageddon, an all-out war between good and evil. His opponents included former friends, such as Zatanna and Constantine.[1]
During the battle, the present-day E and Tim arrived as E taught Tim how magic's future holds periods of both flux and stability. As the battle raged, the present-day Tim found a severely wounded Constantine. Upon seeing Tim, Constantine viciously insulted him, calling him a "little bastard", and suggested that E was right when he suggested killing Tim before the Brigade's lessons began. Tim was confused by Constantine's insults, so Constantine pointed up to the sky and showed Tim what he had become in this timeline.[1]
The present-day Tim was naturally horrified by the sight of him killing his newly-made friends, but E reassured Tim that it was only a possible future. Other timelines featured Tim as neutral, or a champion of light.[1]
