Synopsis for the 1st Story

Barry Allen has been suffering intense migraines since a mysterious anomaly appeared in the sky over Central City. He has quit being the Flash and refuses to tell Wally what is going on, as he feels like the Flash Family no longer need him as Wally is definitively faster than him. He and Iris are celebrating her birthday, when suddenly Irey bursts into their home and tells them that alien starfish are falling from the sky and changing people into animals. Barry says that Wally will handle it, but Irey tells him that Wally is busy with the Titans and the problem is city-wide. She tells him that Godspeed is involved and he runs to Iron Heights, finding the prisoners transformed and people being held in some kind of honeycomb. Irey appears behind him and Barry is shocked and a little upset to discover that the teenaged girl can easily keep pace with him. She tells him that Godspeed, who has transformed into a hornet-man, has been stinging people around the city at random and bringing them to the prison.

Godspeed flies in carrying a man and Barry's headache vanishes. Godspeed flees and Barry chases after him, excited to be back in action. He catches up to Godspeed, but Heart creates vibrational duplicates of himself that attack Barry from behind. He is only saved by Irey running in to push him out of the way. Barry insists they need to got home immediately. Irey tells him she has a plan but Barry tells her she needs to wait for her father or one of the others. However, when they get home Iris tells him that to stop wallowing in self pity and that she knows he will not stop until he makes things right. He asks IRey her plan and she tells him they need to get a message to the other speedsters. He suits up and says he knows how.

They go to the Flash Museum, where Barry runs on the Cosmic Treadmill to send a message to the other speedsters through the Speed Force, telling them to converge at Iron Heights. Irey tells him that the next step is to get Maxine Baker, as her power over The Red will help them deal with what is happening. Maxine told Irey that she was sick, but when Irey runs to her house to get her she is missing. Irey realises to her disgust that Maxine must be with Jai, who she recently confided to Irey she has a massive crush on. She tells Barry that Jai probably didn't get his message as his connection to the Speed Force is different than the rest of the family's. Irey reveals that she can sense other conduits through the Force and gets a fix on Jai's location, but also senses that Iris West is screaming for help. Barry runs to save her and Irey says she will find Jai and Maxine.

Barry runs home and finds Iris transformed into a cuttlefish creature. She spits up the spore and it tries to possess Barry, looking for a stronger host, but Maxine and the twins run in and Jai grabs the spore. Maxine scans it through The Red to determine its capabilities and then tells Jai to crush it. He gives the kids his cellphone and tells them to call Hartley Rathaway, then carries Iris to Iron Heights.

Everyone converges on Iron Heights from their solo adventures. Maxine determines that she can use her powers to transform Beast-People into another form. Godspeed flies in again and Barry tries to fight him off, but Godspeed's duplication powers make him a one-man swarm. Irey suggests that if they can get the Flash Family to change into a wolf pack with Barry as the alpha they would be able to fight as a coordinated unit, but the others tell her that's not actually how wolves work. Jai suggests changing them into insects instead, beating Godspeed at his own game. Maxine yells at the adults to let themselves be possessed and they do so after Barry agrees. They change into various animals but Maxine uses her powers to change them into a swarm of bees that view Iris as their queen. The swarm mob Godspeed and do what real bees do to hornets: vibrate to generate heat and cook it alive. They kill they spore and Godspeed coughs it up, restored to normal and unconscious. The swarm then heads out to do the same to the rest of the people.

Synopsis for the 3rd Story

An intensely nervous Jai West is having milkshakes with Maxine Baker. He eventually asks her if this is some kind of prank when suddenly a man slams into the window. Relieved at a chance to leave the awkward situation he runs outside with Maxine following him. She examines the man and tells Jai that he has been hit with some kind of neurotoxin. Jai hears Barry's message, but it is too distorted for him to make out the words. Godspeed attacks them, but Jai is able to punch him out with his super-strength. However, he is stabbed in the back by one of Godspeed's clones. Maxine destroys the clone and cradles Jai in her arms, shielding them from two other clones with an armadillo force field. She tells Jai that if he dies on their first date it will mess her up for life.

Jai is able to draw a huge burst of energy from the Speed Force and use it to cure himself of the toxin. With his powers briefly supercharged he destroys the two clones with shockwave by clapping his hands. He asks Maxine if this was really supposed to be a date and she blushes. Irey runs in and tells them to suit up and follow her to Iron Heights.

Synopsis for "Invitation to the Speedster Ball"

Actor and rookie superhero Jules Jourdain, aka Circuit Breaker, has moved to Central City and is appearing in the musical "Rats". When he heads out of the theatre after a performance, he finds three rat-men dismantling a car and confronts them. They mob him and the Pied Piper, watching from a nearby rooftop, jumps down to rescue him. He uses his flute to put them in a trance and Jules is able to use his Still Force powers to pull the spores out of them, returning them to normal. Hathaway uses the flute to destroy the spores.

Pipes recognises Circuit Breaker from what the Flashes said about him and introduces himself. Suddenly they are attacked by Impulse who has been transformed into a lizard. Jules tries to pull the spore out, but finds that Bart has too much energy for him to drain. Instead he uses his rodeo skills to tame the transformed speedster. Piper tells him that Irey West called and told him to get all infected speedsters to Iron Heights, and so they head off to the prison.

Notes

Trivia

  • In "Invitation to the Speedster Ball", the musical Rats is a clear reference to Cats.
    • In the same story, Circuit Breaker fearing that the Spores will turn him into a turtle is a nod to the original Still Force conduit, The Turtle.
