The nephew of the mysterious and secretive crime figure Tobias Whale, the impostor Tobias Whale appropriated his uncle's identity for his reign in the Los Angeles criminal underworld.[1]
History
This brought him into conflict with Black Lightning and Blue Devil.[2] "Whale" would go on to be murdered and usurped by his uncle, who described his actions as a crime boss as "half-assed" and expressing embarrassment for having his identity stolen by such an uninspired crimelord. However, he respected him enough as a blood relative to kill him personally.[1]

- Tobias Whale was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor von Eeden, first appearing in Black Lightning #1. However, in the rebooted Prime Earth continuity his first appearance as part of the DC Universe is in Marc Andreyko and Robson Rocha's New 52 DC Universe Presents series.
- Despite merely being an impostor of his uncle Tobias Whale, he is nearly identical to Tobias Whale's New Earth counterpart in both physical appearance and characterization.
