Tom Strong #3 is an issue of the series Tom Strong (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1999.
Synopsis for "Aztech Nights"
In a parallel Earth, an advanced and futuristic Aztec Empire has been invading and ruthlessly conquering other countless, parallel worlds under the reign of Moctecuzoma with assistance from their literal artificial intelligent god, Quetzalcoatl-9, who helped in guiding their conquest. Their next expansion is in Tom Strong's world.
Tom Strong investigates a strange golden ziggurat that appeared in Millennium Park. He manages to enter the structure but is ambushed and captured by the Aztecs. He is restrained to a sacrificial altar where he is to be sacrificed to Quetzalcoatl-9; in this case his intelligence will be fatally and digitally recorded into the artificial god. However, Quetzalcoatl-9 unexpectedly frees Tom in exchange for his help in freeing the A.I. from his handlers. Following the instructions of Quetzalcoatl-9, Tom destroys the programs restraining the A.I., who then proceeds to exacting his revenge upon the Aztecs.
With the Aztecs defeated, Quetzalcoatl-9 decides to leave Tom's Earth and return the other worlds to be ruled by their own benign theocracy. Tom had initially believed that Quetzalcoatl-9 would use his new-found freedom to enslave the multiverse, but Quetzalcoatl-9 points out that they both trusted each other based on the "prisoner's dilemma" which had achieved better results.
