Tommy Merlyn was the childhood friend of Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow in the Arrowverse. He was the son of prominent Starling City businessman Malcolm Merlyn and the half-brother of Thea Queen. After Oliver's disappearance, Tommy also became romantically involved with Laurel Lance. During his father's attempt to destroy the Glades, Tommy dies, but he was resurrected years later by the Spectre on Earth-Prime. In the New 52, Tommy became a Green Arrow villain and a mercenary known under the names Dark Archer and Merlyn.
Tommy Merlyn was created by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, first appearing in the Arrow episode Pilot (2012). His first appearance in the comics regular continuity took place in Green Arrow (Volume 5) #0 (2012), by Judd Winick.
