Traci Thirteen is a young mage, an ally of Superman and the Teen Titans.

Origin

Traci Thirteen is the only daughter of professional skeptic and debunker Doctor Terry Thirteen and the Asian sorceress Meihui Lan.

Traci inherited her looks from her mother, along with her talent for magic. As she grew up, her mother taught her some of her spells, much to her father's dismay.

In the end, though, it was magic which killed Traci's mother, and left her and her father bereft, though the details of the event have never been made clear. Despite—or perhaps because of—the tragedy, though, Traci maintained her practice of magic.

Traci and her father lived something of a rootless, nomadic lifestyle, eventually ending up in Washington D.C. While there, Traci assisted Superman on a couple of adventures, even living in Metropolis for a brief time[1]. Traci was trained by Ralph Dibny and his wife Sue Dibny some time after her mother's death[2].

During Infinite Crisis, Traci assisted in rebuilding the shattered Rock of Eternity, locating many of the fragments scattered across Gotham City[3].

One Year Later

She resides with her father in Doomsbury Mansion, the ancestral home of her family (which Traci irreverently nicknames 'Dorksbury Mansion'). She now goes by the alias of Traci 13.

Traci was annoyed by her father's skepticism and boring outlook until an investigation into a plane crash in the French Alps brought them up against the self-proclaimed "Architects of the Universe", who sought to erase Terry from the universe, believing he no longer had a place in it. The Thirteens teamed up with other would-be victims of the Architects, destroying them and foiling their plans[4].

Later, Traci met and began dating Jaime Reyes, the newest Blue Beetle[5]. She was approached by the Teen Titans as a potential member, but declined, feeling it would be too weird to be on the same team with her boyfriend[6]. However, Traci remains an ally of the Titans and has helped them with her magic on several adventures.

Powers

  • Urban Magic: Traci inherited her magical abilities from her mother. Her specialty is city magic, tapping into the knowledge and power of cities.
    • Magical Sight: Traci is able to see people's auras, and can, for a limited time, use the auras' trails to follow them. She can also see certain creatures which are invisible on this plane of existence. This effect is constant.
    • Magical Blast: A blast of magic which, at its higher levels, is capable of tearing a hole through pavement.
    • Protection: Traci can create protective circles and force shields. However, these spells can be broken by an attacker.
    • Divination: Traci can locate objects and people, and can transfer knowledge of their location to someone else's mind. For whatever reason, she couldn't use these spells during her adventures with Superman.
    • Possession: Traci has been seen casting a limited 'possession' spell, giving her limited control over someone's body.
    • Psychic Link: Traci's pet iguana, Leroy, is her sometime familiar. She can talk to him, learning what he's seen and what he thinks.
      • Transformation: She can also cast a spell which turns him into a monstrous dragon-like creature.
    • Fate Sense: Traci also seems to have something of a limited 'fate sense', which kicks in when she's in certain locations, a sense that something important will happen to her there.

Abilities

Weaknesses

  • Concentration: Some of Traci's spells require a verbal or material component to cast. However, even if a spell has no obvious components, she still needs to concentrate when casting it.

Weapons

  • It is unknown whether or not Terry and Traci are connected to Terri Thirteen, of the mystical detectives known as the Croatoans.
  • Traci has a pet iguana named "Leroy".[7].
