- I hope you all enjoyed your touching little moment-- because I'm about to show you the damage that someone with brains can do inside a Kryptonian body.
- — Travv src
Travv is a crazed terrorist and the former leader of the Cosmoteers.
History
Origins
Travv is one of many clones created by Dominator X to be sold as a living weapon. Like his teammates and "siblings" Pira and Rotur-Za, Travv's DNA was heavily modified from the baseline of his parent species, in his case Daxamite. However, while the genetic modification made his fellow Cosmoteers more powerful than a typical member of their species, Travv was born without any of the typical suite of Daxamite powers as Dominator X wanted to use him as a technopath and the Daxamite weakness to lead would make him unsuitable for that role. Travv was extremely bitter and resentful of being robbed of his powers. He was also given extensive cyborg augmentation, including a powerful bionic arm and a near-indestructible artificial spine containing his mind which could move independently and possess another living being as a last resort if his body was destroyed.[1][2]
The Cosmoteers broke free of Dominator X's control and traveled across the universe, rescuing their fellow clones from his laboratories and buyers. Although they resembled Earth superheroes, they were extremely militant, killing their enemies without a second thought and making little effort to prevent collateral damage. Although Pira and Rotur-Za saw these as necessary aspects of their mission, Travv secretly enjoyed killing. Ostensibly they were setting the other clones free, and gave each of them a ring to symoblise their kinship with the Cosmoteers In fact, the rings were mind-control devices, and they were "freeing" the clones to serve as brainwashed soldiers against Dominator X. Travv especially liked the idea of wielding all their powers by proxy, due to his own limited abilities.[1][3][4]
Meeting Superboy
They met Superboy on the planet Dragoi, where they both were battling Dominator X's forces.[5] There was immediately hostility between the Cosmoteers and Superboy, as he refused to kill and considered it the easy way out.[1] Travv especially disliked Superboy due to his showboating personality and jealousy over his popularity with the people they encountered and Kryptonian powers. However, they agreed to work together as Superboy was also a clone and wanted to save the others.[2]
Travv murdered two of Dominator X's henchmen behind Conner's back, drawing the attention of the Green Lanterns. Meanwhile, Dominator X combined all the DNA samples he had gathered together to create a super-clone known as Infinity. Infinity attacked the planet Decidia and killed most of the population. When the Cosmoteers and Superboy responded he proved too strong for them, and so Travv activated the mind control device, giving him direct control of all the clones the Cosmoteers had "rescued". He summoned the clones and had them beat Infinity to death despite Conner's attempts to stop him. Travv said it was time to take the fight to Dominator X but Conner refused to let him leave. Travv blasted Conner with a red solar generator to drain his powers and left him to die on Decidia. The Cosmoteers also murdered the Green Lantern Dal Tornan when he came to arrest them.[3]
The Cosmoteers tracked Dominator X to the planet Calluum and attacked his base. Pira and Rotur-Za were horrified by Travv's total disregard for people caught in the crossfire while he was trying to kill Dominator X, and him even deliberately killing bystanders who he considered potential future enemies. Superboy recovered and followed them to Calluum, where he attacked Travv and ripped the control device out of his forehead. With the clones freed of Travv's control, Pria and Rotur-Za took them to safety while Conner fought Travv. Connor ripped off Travv's bionic arm and so he set off a bomb in it, hoping to kill them both. Conner was protected by a telekinetic force field but Travv's body was destroyed. This allowed his cybernetic spinal cord to take control of a clone of Superboy he had created.[4]
With his new body Travv easily overpowered Pira and Rotur-Za, leaving Superboy to face him alone. Now seemingly insane, Travv attempted to kill Superboy with a full-power energy blast that could have levelled the city they were fighting in, killing millions of people. Conner was able to contain and reflect the blast back at Travv with his tactile telekinesis, leaving him comatose and with full-body severe burns. The Green Lanterns arrived shortly afterwards and arrested all three of the Cosmoteers.[6]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Technopathy: Due to alterations to his DNA, Travv can control technology with his mind, an ability which his parent species does not typically possess. He can create advanced machines from any disparate spare parts in the vicinity.[1] He retained this ability after transferring his consciousness into a body cloned from Superboy's DNA.[6]
- Cloned Kryptonian Cyborg Physiology: After his original body was destroyed, Travv took control of a body cloned from Superboy's DNA possessing all of Conner's powers.[4]
- Cybernetic Enhancement: Travv's body is further enhanced by advanced cybernetics.[6]
- Metamorphosis: Travv can use his technopathy to alter his cybernetic implants, allowing him to reshape his limbs into blades or a working blaster.[6]
- Energy Projection: Travv's blaster was estimated to be able to destroy a city in a single blast at full power.[6]
- Possession: Travv's consciousness is stored in his cybernetic spine rather than his brain. If his body is destroyed, his spine can enter another body and take control of it.[4]
