The Trench King is the the second known leader of the Trench since the Trench have been rediscovered by the other Atlantean tribes.
History
At some point the Trench King fathered a daughter named Shellestriah with a human woman.[1]
The Trench King led an army of his people to invade Xebel while King Nereus was attending the royal wedding in Atlantis, claiming he was trying to retrieve something that Xebel had stolen from the Trench.[2] Aqualad was able to lure the Trench army away from the city and hit them with a huge blast of electricity. The Trench retreated, with the King warning Jackson that he would regret standing in their way. His queen was apparently aware of and gave assent to the plan.[3]
The Trench King somehow heard the stories of the Monkey King's ancient adventures, including how demons would devour heroes to achieve immortal power. Shellestriah reported that there was a monkey god in Amnesty Bay, which he took as proof the legends were true.[1] He lead the Trench to invade Atlantis to devour Aquaman, who was busy fighting the Monkey Prince, the god that Shellestriah had spoken of.
During the fight, the Trench King was possessed by an ancient demon known as Silver Horn King, who shared his hunger for Aquaman's soul. The Trench King actually enjoyed being possessed as Silver Horn King granted him great power, however Monkey Prince exorcised the demon from his body anyway with a blow from the mighty magic staff Jingu Bang. The Trench King was furious and wanted to kill him and continue the attack on Atlantis, but Shellestriah told her father that he owed Monkey Prince his life and if he wanted to hurt him he would have to go through her. He begrudgingly ordered the Trench to withdraw.[4]
