Synopsis for "Drawing Blood"
At Giza, Egypt, the sins of Pride and Envy meet in the shadows of the Great Pyramids. Pride warns that their mother, Pandora seeks to destroy them, and though she always had, she now has the benefit of possessing the box they were born from. Without explaining her intentions, Pride orders Envy to block and delay Pandora's efforts.
At Belle Reve Penitentiary, Special Agent Kincaid of S.H.A.D.E. and Special Agent Paul Chang of A.R.G.U.S. investigate the crater where Superman attempted to open Pandora's Box. As the jurisdiction over the case is muddy, they decide it might be best to pool resources. Both agents have leads on the mysterious woman who had been caught on camera at the scene. A.R.G.U.S. has already ID'd her, after she broke into the Black Room some time ago.
Meanwhile, Pandora returns to Marcus' armoury, concerned that her efforts to rid the world of sin seem to have caused a war. More than that, the whole thing is spinning out of control, and she blames herself.
Back at the crater, the Secret Society's members investigate for themselves. Signalman determines that Pandora used the power of the box there. Vandal Savage has Signalman try to find her using his abilities, though the man claims it will take more resources.
Sighing, Pandora admits that Superman was her best option, but not her last. She had been warned that the purest of heart could open the box, but she had also been told that the darkest of heart could do it. If Superman's pure heart was not enough to open the box, she iwill go to the one she knows is the darkest heart in the world - and the oldest.
She returns to Belle Reve, where the Society members are surprised to see her. Giganta attacks her immediately, but she is surprised to take one of Pandora's knives in her eye, and further surprised when it explodes, causing her to collapse on the ground in pain. Pandora was injured in the attack, but seems to have advanced endurance and mobility. Vandal Savage attacks her next, though she tries to reason with him. She manages to pin him in their struggle, and puts her gun to his head, but he warns that nothing can stop him. Accepting his challenge, she shoots him in the face. Unexpectedly, he rises, ignoring the wound, and warning that the sympathy he offered her a thousand years ago is rescinded. With one hand, he snaps her neck, and, like him, she survives the injury. Even so, she is weak, and Savage demands that she give him the box.
He is surprised to learn that she wants to give him the box. She has seen the evil in him, and she knows that if he has the darkest heart, he will be able to usher in an era of peace. Taking the box in his hands, he is suddenly filled with a blast of painful energy. He collapses in tears, and Pandora realizes that somewhere within his soul, Vandal Savage does have a conscience, and as such, he is useless to her.
At the A.R.G.U.S. field office in Houma, Chang is displeased to be working inter-departmentally with S.H.A.D.E., but he shares what info he has with Kinkaid. He points out that Pandora has been sighted as far back as the Crusades. Kinkaid responds that S.H.A.D.E. is equipped to handle the undead - but it depends on what kind. Chang admits that he doesn't know, though she may be the same Pandora of ancient myth. In any case, both of their departments are to make Pandora their priority mission. They are to liquidate her with absolute prejudice.
