Trommites or Tromians were the inhabitants of the planet Trom.

History

Pre-Zero Hour

The unique radioactive environment of the planet Trom gave some of its inhabitants the unusual power to use mental radiation to alter the atomic structure of matter, allowing them to change one chemical element into any other.[2]

Almost the entire Trommite race was wiped out by Roxxas the space-raider and his crew when the Trommites fought against their attempt to enslave and exploit them. Only one of them, young Jan Arrah, future Element Lad of the Legion of Super-Heroes, survived this genocide because he had escaped in a rocket alone.[2]

Years later, Jan had a near-death experience after stopping the Trommites allied with Mordru and also forgave Roxxas, who had reformed.[3]

Post-Rebirth

Jan Arrah, the Element Lad of the Legion of Super-Heroes, is the only survivor from the planet Trom. The Horraz had been trying to use his people's inherent ability to change elemental properties for their benefit, but his people were always fighting back. The Horraz decided that if they couldn't use their powers for profit, then no one could, and the planet Trom and the entire Trommite population, except for Jan, were wiped out.[4]

Future State

Element Lad (Jan Arrah) was once a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. However, when Saturn Girl's people, the Titanians, decided to impose their order on the universe, they psychically controlled Jan, and had him lead his powerful people, the Trommites, in a war on the United Planets.[5] This war became known as the Elemental Rapture, and resulted in the United Planets losing much influence, and Jan's old team collapsing.[6]

It is not explained whether, in this timeline, the Trommites were exterminated in the past and then repopulated, or if they were not exterminated at all (although it is a timeline aligned with that of Post-Rebirth [see above], where the Trommites were exterminated).
