Troy was a mighty city state in the Hellenic era, located in modern day Turkey.
History
It was the focal point of the Trojan War, when the Greek armies gathered to bring back the beautiful Queen Helen, the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta, taken to Troy by her lover Prince Paris. After ten years of war, Troy was finally defeated and burned down.[1]
