Tsuki-yomi appeared to greet Lucifer while he was on his journey to the Japanese underworld in search of his severed wings in the next stage of his quest for divine power. Lucifer set out to reclaim his lost wings, which were in the possession of Izanami, the ruling deity of the House of Windowless Rooms. Izanami's children Susano-o-Mikoto, Kagutsuchi, Yama-no-Kami, and Tsuki-yomi let Lucifer stay in the House and acted cordial toward him, but in truth they plotted his murder, a feat only possible because Lucifer was mortal in Izanami's realm. Susano-o-Mikoto summoned the demon Musubi and sent her to kill Lucifer, but Lucifer convinced her to join his cause. As a psychopomp, Lucifer could choose her soul's destination if he killed her, so Musubi allowed it to free herself from Izanami's service. Later at a banquet Kagutsuchiu provoked Lucifer. Despite attempting to create peaceful relations, Tsuki-yomi was killed when he was cut by the blade of his brother, Kagutsuchi, through Lucifer's trickery.
