The Republic of Tynanda is a small and struggling African state.
The nation's geography is mostly made up of desert, while in the north there is a jungle region. Until recently, Tynanda was ruled by the tyrannical dictator President Kijaro, whose government was opposed by armed rebels, led by Christian Ributu, a drug lord who controlled the nation's northern jungle. There his opium plantations produced heroin, which was sold abroad, to fund his movement and also provide aid to the poor. Ributu thus gained popular support from the Tynandan people and even from some Tynandan Army deserters.
As Kijaro's dictatorial regime was not recognized by the United Nations, and because Tynanda lacked any oil wells to attract the interest of any industrially developed nations, Kijaro resorted to contracting foreign mercenaries and arms from Walker Firearms Inc., and also hired some metahuman mercenaries. However the Tynandan Army was swindled by Walker Firearms Inc. into buying outdated and defective weapons. Kijaro's rule came to an end when renegade mercenaries Tommy Monaghan, Natt the Hat, Ringo Chen and Hacken joined forces with Ributu and stormed the Tynandan capital of Gamin City with a refitted German Tiger tank. There they defeated the remains of the Tynandan Army and Kijaro's metahuman mercenaries, and finally killed Kijaro himself. Christian Ributu immediately took over the reign of Tynanda, with promises of ruling more fairly and benevolently than his predecessor.
