Captain Tyrone Fortune was a privateer, given a commission by the King of England to raid French ships and fight pirates.

He sailed in his galleon Revenge with a crew of pirates who usually wanted to go beyond the commission and attack all ships, so in addition to his other duties he had to keep his crew in line. His first officer, William Kentshire, assisted the captain in his day-to-day duties.

However, after coming to the Spanish harbor of San Louvelle, a mutiny occurs lead by Michnel Severish, and the governor believes Captain Fortune to be a pirate leader when The Revenge launches an attack on the town.[1] Captain Fortune and Will managed to fight their way out of arrest, reach The Revenge, and duel Severish in a swordfight. With Severish dead, Captain Fortune reclaimed command of his ship.[2]

Sailing to the West Indies after the governor branded them as pirates, Captain Fortune heard of a pirate band headed for Skull Island with a woman named Angela held captive. They hunted down the pirates and rescued the girl.[3]

Summoned by a call to aid, Captain Fortune arrived in London, England where he found the Earl of Essex and his daughter in peril at the hands of Duke Edward of Kent. Fortune rescued them, but the Duke escaped to enact his revenge another day.[4] The Captain made his way to the captured Balomar castle where he launched an assault, but the Duke escaped again, capturing Lady Essex once more. Following on horseback, Captain Fortune and the Duke had a final confrontation where the Duke perished after falling down a cliff face. [4]

Captain Fortune and his crew would go up against several notorious pirates, including Captain Clegg, captain of The Wolf,[5] the notorious old foe of Captain Fortune, Black Flint,[6] a mysterious female captain,[7] and the skeletal captain of a ghost ship in the Caribbean.[8] Other adventures included discovering the long lost city of Tafu and its inhabitants.[9]
