The United States Army is a military branch of the U.S. Government. They are primarily men and women fighting on the ground to protect America from foreign threats. The United States Air Force split off from the Army in 1947, made up from the personnel of the former Army branch the United States Army Air Force which itself succeeded the United States Army Air Corps in 1941.
