History

The Unknown Lantern is an unidentified member of the Green Lantern Corps buried in the Crypts of Oa in Sector 666. His memorial sports no name. Later during Blackest Night he appears resurrected as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. No information is currently known about the Unknown Lantern.

• Although the Unknown Lantern has come up in conversation with creators, they are so far refusing comment. This intentional vagueness implies some sort of significance. The official online DC Comics companion to Blackest Night and the War of Light lists all information about him as classified.

• On Earth, there is the tradition of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider to symbolically honor the many soldiers that have died in war without their remains being identified.
