I began using this site as a reference for my Legion collection and was amazed to find several issues from the Bronze Age had "missing characters" and very little info. Thus, with comics in hand, I quickly became addicted in filling in the details.
Now days, I read comics featuring pulp-like heroes, and/or Golden Age characters who are still set in the 1930s and 40s. I also read horror/occult and science fiction titles.
Favorite thought-provoking series:
Swamp Thing Vol 2: Alan Moore's run. A fantastic read about a "monster's" transformation into a God-like being.
Spectre Vol 3 1: John Ostrander's excellent usage of the pulp-horror hero, who begins to question religion, guilt and redemption.
Question Vol 1 1: Dennis O'Neil writes the entire series as a philosophical message of man's identity and his place in society.
