Synopsis for "City on the Edge"
The core members of the Resistance finish a meal at the Club Creole in the Neutral Zone in Los Angeles. They spy three Visitors walk into the establishment and approach the bar. Despite the treaty, the three Visitors produce laser weapons from beneath their trench coats and open fire. Mike and Julie overturn a table and use it as a shield, while Ham and Chris return fire. A blast strikes Chris in the shoulder and he falls back. One of the Visitors attempts to take a hostage, but Ham drops him with a shot to the face. The other two race outside and alert a patrol sled. The officers open fire on the restaurant and the Resistance members scatter. Ham and Chris are separated from the others.
Mike and Julie return to one of their safe houses - an abandoned movie studio lot in Hollywood. There, the alien Resistance member Willie puts the final touches on a stolen Sky Fighter. Mike and Julie introduce Willie to two fresh recruits to the underground, Boyce and Hart.
Elsewhere, Ham and Chris avoid capture by hiding in the back of a garbage truck. Halfway down the Santa Monica freeway, they abandon the truck and hijack a taxi. Ham brings Chris to a place where he can receive medical attention.
Meanwhile, news of the Club Creole skirmish reaches the ears of Visitor commander Lydia. She chastises her second-in-command Diana for allowing such a flagrant violation of the neutral zone. Diana has no explanation to provide her.
Later, a Visitor agent named Lorne visits the Science Frontiers office of Nathan Bates. It was Bates who hired the three Visitors to ambush the Resistance in the hopes of assassinating Ham Tyler. Lorne tells Bates that the mission failed and that Tyler and his friends are still alive.
Meanwhile, Mike, Julie, Willie, Boyce and Hart test-fly their new Sky Fighter. They intercept a Visitor patrol ship, but they succeed in fooling them into thinking that they are Visitors as well. As the other ship flies off, the Sky Fighter begins to malfunction. Mike angles the ship downward for a destructive, yet relatively safe landing. Outside, they see groups of smiling people approaching the ship carrying large wooden crates. As they exit, the people realize that the occupants are human and not alien. Their smiles disappear and they stare at the Resistance members blankly before turning to flee, leaving the crates behind them. Mike looks at a hole in one of the crates and sees a pair of menacing red eyes staring back at him.
