Quote1 My race was birthed in the "unexplored" region of Juru. Few suspected our existence — fewer still, our beliefs. Yet we lived among ordinary men, practicing our rituals in secret. Quote2
Thul-Karsrc

The last unexplored area of Krypton was the Valley of Juru; a place that many explorers had sought, but none returned from. It was the one bastion of magic on an otherwise scientific Krypton.

History

Earth-One

In the olden days of Krypton, the explorer Val-El set off from his new city of Argo, to the Southern tip of the continent of Lurvan, and entered the Valley of Juru; from which he and his party never returned. That valley remained the one unexplored region of Krypton, as further explorers disappeared once they passed through the eerie mists that surroundeded the valley.[1]

While the scientific community of Krypton called Juru unexplored, it was occupied by the Wizards of Juru — the planet's sole practicers of magic. They would leave the valley to mix with others in Kryptonian society, but always return to their People's Temple, which contained the Orb of Juru.[2]

When Krypton entered its final cataclysm, the sorcerer Thul-Kar returned to the Temple to find the dead husks of his fellow wizards, and calling upon the power of the Orb of Juru, he entered the Phantom Zone. The Valley of Juru then became nothing more than Kryptonite debris.[3]

Arrowverse

In the Arrowverse Multiverse, Juru, also known as Dark Valley, is a supernatural dimension and the sacred land of the Children of Juru of Earth-38, a Kryptonian cult which was composed by dark witches that worshipped the alien goddess Yuda Kal. It is shaped like a dark wooded valley and it is the place where the witches created the Worldkillers, dark magic-empowered Kryptonians whose evil personas lies dormant here while not taking over the bodies of their human hosts.

The Juru was originally born when the Children of Juru first developed the idea of creating the Worldkillers. They made it up using their combined magic and, after they engineered the evil race of the Worldkillers, used it as a power source for the dark Kryptonians, gifting them with their superior abilities.

As the Worldkillers had to possess other bodies to live in the real world, the witches also planned to use this realm to store their host's mind when they were taking over the bodies, and vice versa. This dark dimension is also inhabitated by the Kryptonian Demons, a race of legendary spirits, connected in some way with the magic force of the Kryptonian witches.

In 2017, Samantha Arias awoke herself as the Worldkiller Reign while her mind was transported into the Juru. Along with her, other two human personas of Worldkillers, Julia Freeman and Grace Parker, were also stored here while their counterparts, Purity and Pestilence, ravaged the Earth in their bodies.

When Supergirl and Samantha Aries returned to the Juru to finally stand against Reign, they used the waters from the Fountain of Lilith to weaken her enough to be captured by the Kryptonian Demons that also removed her abilities for good.[4]

After the rebirth of the Multiverse, this realm was still created by the Children of Juru and presumably still exists.[5]
