- My God! My God! I've been damned to a realm of monsters and ghosts! You! I killed you fifteen years ago! Now you've come to haunt me in the company of monsters from Hell!

Mr. Van Klooster is a highwayman active in Ingolstadt, Germany during the 19th Century.
History
He worked in cooperation with Doctor Seltsam, a local scientist who gave him information on robbery targets in exchange for corpses to use in experiments. During these robberies he would wear a corpse mask provided by Seltsam. His two most notable victims were the scientist Thomas Wayne and Wayne's wife. This incident orphaned their son Bruce Wayne, who grew up to be a scientist and would eventually resurrect his father into a monstrous creature known as the Bat-Man. Van Klooster continued his robbing ways for many years, until he was attacked by the resurrected Thomas Wayne who had developed an obsession with criminals. Bruce Wayne intervened allowing Van Klooster to escape and inform Seltsam of the events. Van Klooster aided Seltsam in capturing Bruce Wayne's manservant Alfredo and pet Bat-Hound. Despite this, Seltsam betrayed his accomplice shortly after and used Van Klooster in one of his deadly experiments. The laboratory was destroyed during a conflict with the Bat-Man, sealing Van Klooster's demise.[1]
Notes
- Mr. Van Klooster is the Castle of the Bat counterpart to Joe Chill, the mugger who originally killed Bruce Wayne's parents in mainstream continuity.[2]
Trivia
- Mr. Van Klooster seems to have a permanent U-shaped mark on his forehead from getting kicked by a horse during the murder of the Waynes.
