Doctor Victor Frankenstein was the mad scientist who created Frankenstein's Monster, made of several stitched-together corpses. However, the monster turned against him, and Victor tracked he as far as the Arctic, where the monster seemingly perished. Years later, was revealed that the monster survived and preferred to be known as Victor Frankenstein II.

On Earth-Two, Baron Frankenstein was a normal scientist experimenting with electricity, who lived in central Europe and was the inspiration for the character Victor Frankenstein from the Mary Shelley's novel.

Victor Frankenstein first appeared in the novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus (1818) by Mary Shelley. He was first adapted into DC Comics by Edmond Hamilton and Bob Kane in Detective Comics #135. (1948)
