Planet Vito, later also known as Planet X, is an Earth-like planet in the Solar System, but will not be discovered until 3000 AD.
History
In 3000 A.D., working in his observatory in the Terrestial Building, Professor Nebula will discovers a new planet in the Solar System, and will determine that it is habitable. The Grand Solar Council will rule that the planet whose flier first reaches this planet shall claim it.
Earth's President will appoint a pilot named "Cyclone" to make this flight on behalf of Earth. A young woman named Joy Daye will stow away aboard his rocketship.
King Murdo of Mars will attempt to win the new planet, no matter what it takes, and will bring his rocket fleet along to ensure that outcome. He will interfere personally, with Cyclone and Joy at a refueling station, and then will pursues and shoot at them in space. This will offend the other contestants, who will team up to drive Murdo out of the race. But Murdo's destroyers will arrive, and a fierce space battle will ensue. The Martian ships will be driven away, but they will regroup to form a new ambush.
Meanwhile Cyclone will land first on Planet Vito, and there plant the flag of Earth. Rival planetary pilots will all land and congratulate Cyclone; some or all of them will soon join in establishing an Earth Colony there. But while they are all busy building a radio station, with which to notify the Grand Solar Council of this outcome, Murdo will secretly land on the new planet, and will attempt to take over the transmitter, and use it to call in his fleet. But he'll be caught, by Cyclone, and punched unconscious.
Soon a fleet of rockets will set out from Earth, with pioneers for Vito.[1]
