Volcano Man is a large lava based creature that lives beneath the Earth's surface.
History
The Challengers of the Unknown investigated the legend of the Volcano Man when they were apparently attacked by him. However, this turned out to be just one of an army of synthetically created Volcano Men created by the criminal scientist Dr. Edward Gruner who used people's superstition to conquer the planet.However the real Volcano Man entered the stage and defeated his smaller and less powerful pretenders.[1]
The original Volcano Man was later recruited by Drabny, to join the League of Challenger Haters, who fought the Challengers and the Doom Patrol on several occasions.[2]
Volcano Man later appeared as a member of the Injustice League Unlimited.[3]

- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
