In 1939 in South America, the bankrupt nation of Vulcania invaded the resource-rich republic of San Columbo. The San Columbo government called in the American soldier-of-fortune Gary Hawkes. On a bombing raid in Vulcanian territory, Hawkes was shot down, but he and his tailgunner survived the landing, and fought their way back to San Columbo. San Columbo successfully repelled the Vulcanian invasion.
