History

Early life

Walter was the result of a brief relationship between Iron Munro and Phantom Lady (Sandra Knight). Societal standards of the time looked unfavorably towards unmarried mothers, and hospital staff pressed her to disclose the identity of the father. When she didn't want to, her friend Atom (Al Pratt), who had accompanied her to the hospital, claimed to be the father to calm down tensions. Walt grew up with his father's powers and became a violent man. He was a career criminal and abusive husband. When he was 35, he murdered his wife Lydia and went to jail for it. Their young daughter Kate was put into foster care and eventually adopted.
