Warren Eckworth was a businessman and the CEO of the Capitol City based corporation, Eckworth Industries.
History
Eckworth was present at the first public testing and unveiling of the Superboy Gun, a hi-tech missile defense system designed by his company for the United States Army. During the test, Lex Luthor used a remote control device to take control of the missile in an attempt to kill Superboy, who had shown up to the weapons show to test the gun in public and also to thank Eckworth for his past volunteering and donating much of his fortune to charity. Lex's tampering had fazed Superboy, but did not kill him, and Eckworth rushed onto the scene to see if Superboy was all right. Meanwhile, Lex groused to Leo that his device ramped up the gun's power by 25%, which would have been enough to destroy a 747. Failing in his attempt due to the Superboy Gun not being powerful enough to kill the Boy of Steel, Luthor proceeded with his next plan. He revelaed that plastic surgery on his face to be a physical double of Eckworth, then murdered Leo to keep the secret. Lex infiltrated the offices of Eckworth Industries. After sneaking into Eckworth's private office, the master criminal murdered the businessman with a Curaré dart to the neck, the same way he had murdered Leo. While disguised as Eckworth, Luthor then hatched an ingenious scheme to finally kill Superboy by increasing the specifications of the Superboy Gun an additional 50%. He also regained his lost money by embezzling millions of dollars from Eckworth Industries, and kidnapping Lana Lang. Luthor then had Eckworth's body shipped to the abandoned jail outside Capitol City. In order to make the bridal kidnapping look legitimate, Luthor dressed Leo and Warren Eckworth's corpses in tuxedos in order for them to "play" the respective parts of best man and father of the bride. Luthor also forced a Monsignor at gunpoint to recite marital vows and took video footage of this to further make the kidnapping look like an actual wedding. Superboy came to rescue Lana, as well as accusing Lex of murdering Warren Eckworth and commiting theft of his identity, However, Lex had the gun hidden, which he fired on Superboy, leaving him parylyzed under a pile of rubble. It was unknown what became of Warren Eckworth's earthly remains after this, although it is likely the authorities eventually learned of the bridal kidnapping and sham wedding, and turned over Eckworth's corpse to a funeral director so his friends and family could mourn him appropriately.
