Waylon Jones, also known as Killer Croc, is an alien/human hybrid who indirectly responsible for the near death of all Batman's rogues gallery with his hellish offspring.

In the early 70s, Tampa been part of a federal accident involving an aircraft that carried a supposed "experimental defoliant". The plane fell into a swamp and contaminated both fauna and flora alike, although it had a particular effect on mammals, including humans: they started bearing reptilian DNA, seemingly creating a new species previously unseen in any terrestrial ecosystem. Most couldn't live long due to physical defects, at least until Waylon Jones was born. He grew up to be a famed criminal within Gotham underworld who worked alongside Batman's rogues gallery.[1]

During a villain meeting, Killer Croc exuded a pheromone similar to reptilian estrogen, which not only raised the stress levels of everyone that breathed it in, but also marked them. It nearly caused a massacre between the rogues gallery, and during the commotion, Croc fled to sewers by pure instinct. He was about to give birth and needed a place he felt safe. The offspring bursted through Croc's swollen belly, confused, not recognizing Croc as his own mother.[2] It followed the scent of estrogen, only to be disappointed every time it found a costumed crook in her place. They were all mauled by the beast until it had exhausted all possibilities but Croc.

When the offspring reencountered Croc, he couldn't give it sustenance as he lacked lady parts, so the creature turned its back upon him, expecting to be impregnated by Croc. He refused, enraging the beast. Batman, in order to protect Croc, trapped a common criminal in the Batmobile to use him as bait.[3] He made the offspring follow the Batmobile to a secluded location in Gotham City and made the creature choke by jumping into its mouth. Once he slid down its throat, Batman ejected the criminal from the Batmobile and detonated the vehicle right beside it. Once the offspring was knocked out, Batman hacked through its insides and called for national security. They took both Croc and the offspring to study them a sealed lab.[4]
