We Are Robin #12 is an issue of the series We Are Robin (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 2016. It was published on May 25, 2016.
Synopsis for "The Hero Business"
A group of burglars break into to a luxurious apartment and find a safe hidden behind a family portrait. As the others try to open it, one of them is alarmed to see the Bat-Signal out the window.
Two weeks earlier, ex-Robin Cisco has dinner with his family. His father runs a small construction company which is already deeply in debt and just lost a contract to Wayne Enterprises. Determined to help out, Cisco heads to a Chinese restaurant to meet a group of men who he's been told can get him a lot of money fast, and is surprised to learn that they are criminals. They need someone slender and acrobatic enough to help them burgle their next target: Bruce Wayne.
The day before the burglary, Duke and his friends are at the police station to give their statements about the school hostage situation from last issue. Leslie arrives, saying that she was disappointed at first to hear that Duke had come to the attention of the police again, but after hearing about what he and the others did, she now thinks they were "stupid... but brave." Duke takes Leslie to the mental hospital to meet his parents, while Riko, Dre, Izzy, and Dax head home with their own parents.
The following night, Cisco reaches out to Shug-R under his Nest handle, redbird16. He says that he's gotten himself into a bad situation, and whatever happens, he hopes it doesn't reflect badly on the other ex-Robins or make her think of him as a villain. Instead of replying, she reaches out to Duke's group and assembles them on the roof of the Ace Chemicals building to do something about this worrying news.
Shug informs the others that she tracked Redbird's phone to the ventilation shaft of one of Bruce Wayne's penthouses. We then catch up with the opening scene, as the burglars finally get the safe open. Unfortunately for them, it only contains a note that says "Nice try!" The elevator opens, and Alfred emerges, greeting them as if they were unexpected guests. The burglars argue over whether to take ALfred hostage or just kill him, horrifying Cisco.
The burglar with the gun turns it on Cisco and leads him out to the balcony, seemingly intent on pushing him off for his insubordination. The Robins arrive via Dax's grappling guns and free Cisco, knocking out the gunman. Dre heads into the apartment to deal with the rest, followed closely by Izzy and Duke. The last burglar standing holds a knife to Alfred's throat, and when the doorman who was working with the burglars arrives via elevator, Duke agrees to let both of them go if they leave Alfred.
Alfred and the Robins debate what to do with Cisco and how to get down to ground level fast enough to intercept the escaping burglars. Their grappling guns don't have enough cable to reach the ground, so Alfred gives them Bruce's base jumping parachutes. Duke reveals that he recognizes Alfred as the mysterious man who has been helping them, and the Robins (minus Shug-R, who is too afraid of heights) jump off the balcony.
