Synopsis for Jonah Hex: "Showdown with the Dangling Man!"

When a group of train hijackers attempt to steal a train car full of weapons destined to Fort Macphearson, they make the mistake of attacking a train with Jonah Hex as a passenger. When trying to rob Hex, the bounty hunter unloads on the hijackers and are forced to retreat empty handed.

Riding to the Fort to report the situation, Jonah has to travel through a way station which charges people 10 dollars to pass through it, otherwise they have to go through a dangerious path with a dangerous bog. Hex witnesses a traveler lose his horse and carriage to the bog, and questions the legality of the way stations proprietor's $10 toll. Traveling the rest of the way to the fort, Hex saves a widow and her two children from a buffalo stampede to learn that the woman's husband just died of Cholera, however she refuses his offer to help bury her husband.

After reporting to the Fort about the attempted robbery and the dubious business practices of the way station, Hex returns back to the way station to find that the widow's wagon has suffered the same fate as those who don't pay the toll. Hex manages to save the woman, but her two boys end up drowning in the bog. When nobody is willing to hang Barfrey for being indirectly responsible for her children's death, the widow decides to stay out in front of the way station and warn people of it's practices. Hex rides back to the Fort to try and find some way for them to stop the way station from charging people.

Hex stumbles upon the fact that the train hijackers are working in conjunction with the Colonel at the Fort, and Silas Barfrey. With information provided by the colonel, the hijackers rob the trains and steal the guns which they sell at the way station. Hex gets in a gun fight with the hijackers and Crandall is shot in the meelee, and Hex is forced to flee when the Fort's guards come to arrest him.

Riding back to the way station to bring Barfrey to justice, Hex comes across the dead body of the widow, being desolved in a Limestone pit, and has to fight off another one of the hijackers. Hex is suddenly informed by some of the people at the way station that another person became a victim of the bog, and the fed-up towns people are finally going to hang Barfrey. Witnessing the event, Barfrey begs that Hex free him, admitting his crimes not wanting to be hung, and willing to go to jail to get out of dying. However, Hex refuses and the townspeople hang Barfrey.
