Synopsis for "Bigfoot's Death Song!"

Johan Hex is brought in by the army to negotiate a treaty between the Paiute Indians and the US government. He is strongly supported by colonel Scott who has a lot of confidence in Hex's relationship with the Paiutes and their chief Running Pony. A crude army scout by the name of Rawhide Gant is cynical about the idea of bringing in a killer like Hex for such a delicate negotiation. They also express concern over an Indian renegade by the name of Crazy Joe Bigfoot who has been attacking settlers in spite of the upcoming treaty. The army contingency meets with Chief Running Pony and it looks like they are about to strike an agreement when they are suddenly interrupted by a scream. They run over and catch Rawhide Gant in the process of attacking an Indian squaw named Spotted Fawn. She happens to be Joe Bigfoots woman but the attack is halted by Johah Hex himself as he subdues Gant. The treaty talks continue when Joe Bigfoot suddenly makes and appearance with his men. He approaches the council and expresses his resentment over making a treaty with the white men. Running Pony expresses his respect for Bigfoot but announces that the treaty talks will proceed. The peace talks are concluded. The next day finds the Indian squaw Spotted Fawn waiting in the forrest for her love Joe Bigfoot. She is then approached abruptly by Rawhide Gant once more as he tries to force himself on her. Spotted Fawn struggles to get away but she is pushed over a cliff by gant. Before she falls to her death she clutches a feather from Gants hat. When her body is found she is still clutching the feather which identifies Gant as her killer. Joe Bigfoot is enraged at the murder and he leads a war party in search of Gant and his men. He massacres Gant and his unit in violation of the newly struck peace treaty. Bigfoot is brought before the Indian council and he is found guilty of violating the terms of the peace agreement. He is sentenced to death by Chief Running Pony. Bigfoot is released and told to come back in ten days to face his punishment. Colonel Scott is cynical that Bigfoot will return to face justice but Running Pony invites the colonel to come back in ten days to witness the punishment for himself. He explains that Bigfoot needs time to make peace with the great spirit. True to their tradition, Bigfoot returns in exactly ten days. He gives away some of his possessions and then chooses Jonah Hex to perform his execution. Hex aims a rifle at his heart and kills him instantly. Bigfoot lays on the ground dead as Hex rides off into the distance.
