Weird Worlds #6 is an issue of the series Weird Worlds (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1973.

Synopsis for "Beneath the Omean Sea"

Escaping the mad city of Ghasta in a hand-made patchwork balloon, John Carter, Tars Tarkas, Thuvia and their captive, Xodar -- a black pirate -- speed towards the city of Helium. On their journey, they are confronted by a giant airship, with a protruding skyhook, that aims to puncture Carter's balloon. In order to buoy the balloon upward, giving it less weight and out of danger, Carter leaps out of the craft with the pirate. They land safely aboard the threatening airship's platform, but other pirates surround him and a sword fight ensues.

Meanwhile, though the balloon is out of danger of being punctured, the controls become jammed and it crashes below. Tars Tarkas and Thuvia climb out of the wreckage, and walk the desert sands. Many miles later, a patrol ship rescues them and takes them to Helium where Dejah Thoris awaits. The Princess questions the two, but only hears the mutterings of Thuvia, stating; "John... Carter... my... chieftain... dead... dead... dead..."

Back on the pirate ship, Carter is bound up and the aircraft heads to the Valley Dor. While imprisoned, Carter speaks with another captive, Phaidor, daughter of Matal Shang. Suddenly, the ship lands at the Temple of Issus. The two captives are forced to enter the Goddess' chamber, where Issus commands the woman to be a servant, and Carter to enter the "Circle of Death." To be continued.

Synopsis for "Return"

David Innes returns to the surface of the Earth to obtain supplies for Pellucidar, such as firearms, books and tools. Prior to entering his vessel (the Iron Mole), Hooja the sly one has secretly placed a Mahar (reptilian bird) on board. During his journey, David is attacked by the bird, but he subdues it and binds it with rope. He emerges on the surface and busies himself purchasing supplies. A month later, he churns back down to Pellucidar. When he opens his capsule, the Mahar escapes. Suddenly, he hears a man's cry for help from beyond. It is his friend Abner Perry being chased by ape men. David shoots his gun and the ape men scatter for safety. After the tussle, Abner tells David about the terrible things that have happened of late. One being, that the natives no longer trust David, as they believe he has deserted them. The two begin their journey, by foot, over the frozen mountain pass to join Dacor, David's brother-in-law. During their climb, a bear comes charging. Abner runs for cover as David shoots the animal dead. David turns to speak to his companion, but realizes he has mysteriously disappeared. Calling after him, he sets off to find his friend. To be continued.
