Wes Craven (b. August 2, 1939 – d.August 30, 2015) was an American film director and writer who wrote and directed the 1982 movie Swamp Thing.

Wes Craven was a writer/director known for his work on horror films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left and Scream.
He wrote and directed the 1982 film Swamp Thing, the first adaptation of the DC character. In the early 1970s, prior to his film career, he wrote short text stories and articles for DC's anthologies Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love (Volume 1), Sinister House of Secret Love (Volume 1) and Young Love (Volume 1).
