- Past... present... then the future... A nightmare beast stands revealed. A red figure. A boy made of sand. Some visions I can't put word to. Are these events my fault?
Wesley Dodds: The Sandman #4 is an issue of the series Wesley Dodds: The Sandman (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 2024. It was published on January 9, 2024.
Synopsis for "The Dark Dream"
Wesley Dodds is tortured by the effects of the gas and his precognitive dreams, reliving every cruel or selfish thing he ever did and seeing horrifying visions of the future. He snaps awake in his apartment and Dian tells him that he has been out for two days. They try to work out who the man that attacked him was and Dian suggests it may be someone inside the police who knew of Igor Kluge's criminal history, but Wesley says the plot is bigger than that. He suddenly realises that Colonel Breckinridge is the mastermind, and that Vanderlyle may be in on it.
Wesley goes down to Vanderlyle's apartment but finds the Fog choking him to death, seemingly revealing that he is innocent. Wesley fights him off, but in the process the Fog accidentally falls out of the window to his death, meaning they can't use him to find out where the journal is. Wesley says that there is only one option left to get it back: treason.
