Synopsis for Captain Marvel v. Spy Smasher, Part 5: "The Awakening of Spy Smasher"
The brilliant brain of Alan Armstrong has been warped by Hypnotic Waves, and he has masterminded a series of sabotage attacks against U.S. military installations all over the country. Captain Marvel has figured out what's going on, and Billy has announced that Marvel expects to capture the dangerous agent that very day.
To that end, Billy decides that it's a good time to go interview Armstrong's fiancee Eve Corby. But Spy Smasher has arrived at Miss Corby's home ahead of him, with his twisted mind bent on murder. He gives her one chance, which she refuses, to forswear her loyalty to America, then prepares to shoot. But Billy is already in the house, and says his magic word; Captain Marvel easily disarms Armstrong, then smacks him across the room, while Eve quietly scoops up the dropped pistol. She yells at Marvel to not hurt Spy Smasher, then she shoots him point blank while yelling for Spy Smasher to run! Cap doesn't take it personally, and quietly talks Eve down, and points out that when Alan had a real chance to shoot her, he hadn't taken it, which means that he's not yet completely evil.
Meanwhile at a nearby hotel, Spy Smasher is meeting with two agents of the foreign warlord, who present him with a medal, and a significant promotion in future authority, for all the great work he's done so far. Spy Smasher very rudely scorns their fawning praise, and their so-called War Lord too. Spy Smasher hates and fights governments, and that includes THEIR government! He's now working to take over America in his own name, and their boss had better stay out of his way! So as soon as he leaves the room, Geyer and Schwink start cooking up a plan, and calling in reinforcements, to redress this insult, in blood. Their enforcers are told to meet them at Krom's Cafe, and Billy overhears this, while hiding in an urn in the hallway.
Soon at the cafe, Geyer and Schwink and three of their agents work out their plan, out loud and in English, with Billy quietly eavesdropping in the next booth. The plan is to let Spy Smasher carry out his next expected attack, whose likely target is a new Yankee submarine, being launched that day. Suddenly an armed figure appears in the doorway, covering them with a pistol and talking smack to them in Spy Smasher's voice. One thug flings a bottle at the figure's head, then they all pull guns and shoot it to pieces, but wait, they've been duped, it's a dummy, in Spy Smasher's costume, with a radio receiver for a head, placed there to delay them.
Billy has already raced outside and SHAZAMed himself up; he flies to the Submarine Pier, where an armed sentry confronts him, briefly, before Cap just flies right through the chain-link fence and out to sea, where the experimental sub is under way. He gets himself inside and tells the captain that the sub's only chance of surviving is to get farther out to sea and dive. No sooner do they accomplish that than Spy Smasher appears overhead in his Gyrosub, and dives it into the ocean in pursuit. The sub and Captain Marvel both detect this, and Marvel gets the captain to shoot him out through one tube. (The captain is the only crewmember we ever see.) Spy Smasher also shoots a torpedo, but Cap intercepts and deflects it. Cap then zeroes in on the Gyrosub, but the torpedo tube is too small for him to use it for entry, so he unSHAZAMs himself into Billy, and swims into the tube, then reSHAZAMs up at the interior end. He grabs Spy Smasher and tries to talk some sense into him. Failing that, he takes control of the Gyrosub and flies it back to The Mask's hideout, and shows him the Hypno-Chair. Does he remember anything yet? He almost does, but ... even though the Mask is dead, his baleful influence over Armstrong's mind lives on. It's as if he's still giving orders, that only Alan can hear; suddenly he lunges to smash the Hypno-Chair, does so, then starts punching Captain Marvel. Marvel just stands there and takes it, then he makes full-on eye contact with Spy Smasher, and lays a really strong hypnotic suggestion on him, reminding him of who and what he really is. Armstrong starts to snap out of his brainwashed state.
Just then, the bad guys drive up to the hideout, and Geyer throws a bomb through one window. Cap partially shelters Alan with his invulnerable person, but the angle is wrong, and he's buried under a lot of rubble, while Spy Smasher is blown out of the house through another window, and the bad guys capture him, and drive away just as quick as they can, back to Krom's Cafe. There he defiantly rebukes them while they get an iron heated up for some torture. Meanwhile Captain Marvel digs himself out of the wreckage, and flies directly to Krom's Cafe.

Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Giant's House"
When the Man of the Mountain lunges at him, Ibis dives through his legs, and the four-armed beast plunges off a cliff and smashes to pieces on the ground below. Since they're on Trug's home ground, however, most of the Ibistick's power is suppressed, meaning Ibis is only able to teleport Tommy to safety. Although Ibis and Taia seem trapped, they realize a giant roc is perched on the island, and escape by tying themselves to its legs when the legendary bird takes flight.
It flies them to a huge castle resting on a cloud, where a giant locks the great bird in a cage, and Ibis realizes with some trepidation the enormous roc is only a pet to whoever or whatever lives there. After fighting off a giant mouse, Ibis is led to relative safety by a tribe of dwarves who hide in the hidden spaces of the castle. Ibis agrees to lead them safety, and goes to explore the castle in hopes of finding a way out, only to find himself trapped in the web of an enormous spider.
